August 2008: Winner of Farnborough 2008 Prize Draw announced
QM Systems were pleased to present to the winner of our prize draw
a much requested (by the kids!) a Nintendo Wii which we are sure will help with
their fitness during the winter months. Well done to Paul Gillam at Dowding and
Mills.

March 2008: QM develops high density multiplexer
QM Systems is pleased to announce the devlopment of a new high density, high current, flexible configuration multiplexer the QM45000 This mux combines with the Pulsed Energy Response Analyser (PERA) QM42000 to provide multi-channel lightning strike protection analyser

and gathers data to develop protection systems. Safety aspects of cable insulation degradation, wire faults and loose connections are increasingly under scrutiny as the use of aircraft electronics and electrical equipment grows. As a supplier of aircraft electrical power distribution equipment, Smiths is interested in incorporating wire fault detection and arc fault protection systems. With no available standard that could be directly applied to QM's custom built equipment QM engineers considered a whole raft of diverse BS EN standards including those for welding, lab equipment, fume cabinets, emissions from machinery and eye protection. The final safe solution was the result of close collaboration with QM, Mike Bailey at Smiths (in picture) and Smiths H&S team.
"I was impressed by QM Systems engineering competence, dedication and willingness to support our pressing deadlines whilst, at the same time, providing a top class unit which will meet all of our safety requirements" Mike Bailey Smiths Aerospace.
The QM10000 system was developed for use in development, production and both factory and depot-level support. A key design goal was to ensure the system integrates with LM-STAR®, the mandatory test platform for JSF. QM developed, plug-n-play software drivers make the complete system appear as a single, high-performance instrument to the parent system’s test software despite being a full bay of equipment.
With the capability to source, sink and switch currents of up to 300A and 270V on multiple channels, safety is paramount. Hence a sophisticated safety system, designed with over twenty safety interlocks, provides protection of user and the device-under-test. The system meets the requirements of EN60204 and EN60950 safety standards.
The open system architecture, based upon common off-the-shelf (COTS) instrumentation, offers flexibility to address varying requirements. Where existing COTS did not meet the need, QM has developed innovative hardware and software solutions which are now available separately as individual products, the High Current Multiplexer and the Mains Power Control Unit.
